Delegation of the Slovak Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (SIOK) consisting of Mr. Milan Compel - President, Mr. Tomas Ziak – Vice President and Ms. Zuzana Suskova – Executive Secretary visited Indonesia from 18th till 25th October 2008 for 23rd Trade Expo 2008 Exhibition and hold official meetings. The purpose of the meetings was to inform representatives of Indonesian government, semi-government and private entities that there is a new challenge and attempt to promote Slovak Indonesian relations in general and Slovak Indonesian Economic ties in particular. That, based on long time relations between founders of SIOK with Indonesians, but mainly with Indonesian diplomats in Slovakia, have decided to form Slovak Indonesian Chamber of Commerce as non-profit organization which should gather those merchants, traders, businessmen and prominent representatives from business community of both countries which are ready to support increase and intensification of Slovak - Indonesian economic ties, and people which would like to see these ties rehabilitated to the level of 2 – 3 decades ago.

The meeting of SIOK with the Charge d` Affaires of the Indonesian Republic Mr. Firdauzie Dwiandika and the Head of Protocol Mr. Made P. Sentanajaya was held on October 15, 2008 at the Embassy of the Indonesian Republic in Bratislava. The representatives of SIOK Mr. Milan Compel, Mr. Julius Drugda and Mr. Tomas Ziak during the fruitful discussion mentioned points of SIOK mission to Indonesia in October this year. The mission is organized in cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy. During the visit the SIOK representatives will meet with the representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Parliament, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Agency for Export Development, the Slovak Embassy in Indonesia and will visit the 23rd Trade Expo 2008 Fair in Jakarta. On this occasion Mr. Firdauzie Dwiandika was granted the Certificate of Honorary Chamber`s Member for his effort in establishing SIOK and for the development of relations with Indonesian Institutions and enterprise bodies. |

The President Mr. Milan Compel and the 1st Vice-President of the Chamber Mr. Julius Drugda were welcomed at the Ministry of Economy on October 14, 2008 by the General Director of the Section of Trade and Consumer Protection Mrs. Eva Szoboova. From the side of the Ministry also the Director of International Trade Department Mr. Miroslav Trebula, Senior State Counsellor Mr. Branislav Javorek and the former Commercial Counsellor of the Slovak Embassy in Indonesia Mr. Peter Svitek were present at the meeting. The SIOK representatives informed the Ministry about SIOK establishment, its goals in coming days and the future with the perspective of mutual cooperation between SIOK and ME. Also the matter of potential sectors of trade between Slovakia and Indonesia was discussed. Concerned parties agreed on mutual cooperation and exchange of information and about further progress after the arrival of SIOK official delegation to Indonesia for the 23rd Trade Expo 2008. |

The representatives of SIOK Mr. Milan Compel and Mr. Julius Drugda met with the Director of the Department of International Cooperation Mr. Jozef Rajtar on October 14, 2008 on the ground of SCCI. They presented him SIOK, its goals and program and informed him about the prepared mission of SIOK to the 23rd Trade Expo in Jakarta. In a fruitful discussion they clarified each other the position, orientation and tasks of both chambers of commerce, available potential of Slovakia to intensify and deepen the trade relations with Indonesia in spite of a distance and possibilities in searching of new potential partners for Slovak exporters. |

The Meeting of representatives of Slovak - Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (SIOK) and representatives of Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) for was realized on 8th October 2008 on request of SIOK. Representatives of SIOK Mr. Milan COMPEL and Mr. Tomas ZIAK informed representatives of SARIO Mrs. Katarina SCEPKOVA and Mrs. Andrea CHOVANCOVA about establishment of SIOK, about fields of potential cooperation to enlarge Slovak Indonesian economic cooperation and about the mission of SIOK going to Indonesia for 23rd Trade Expo 2008. Both sides agreed on cooperation, mutual support and exchange of information. At the end of their meeting both sides agreed on next meeting after the arrival of SIOK’s representatives from Jakarta. |
