The meeting of the Slovak - Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (SIOK) representatives with the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia led by H.E. Mr.Anton Apriyantono was held on January 19, 2008. The Indonesian delegation was also represented by Mr. Firdauzie Dwiandika, the Charge d` Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bratislava, Mr. Achmad Mangga Barani, the General Director of Section of Plant Production, Mrs. Yusni Emilia Harahap, Assistant Minister For Institutional Relation and International Cooperation, Dr. Achmad Abdurachim, Expert of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia On Human Resources, Mr. Edy Hartulistiyoso, Agriculture Attaché in Brusel, Mr. Wanton S. Sidauruk, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bratislava and the Head of Protocol Mr. Made P. Sentanajaya

SIOK was represented by Mr. Milan Compel, President SIOK, Mr. Ivan Paska, the General Director for International Relationship OSIVO Zvolen and the nominee for the function of the General Director of Agriculture Section of SIOK, and Mrs. Zuzana Suskova, Executive Secretary SIOK.

In advance is necessary to say two important things. Firstly, the members of SIOK highly appreciate fact that Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bratislava managed to organize this meeting nevertheless tight schedule and time seriousness of visit program of the Indonesian delegation in Slovakia. For the second, such delegations met for the first time, but the meeting was done in a very friendly atmosphere, as if the delegations know each other for years.

After Mr. Firauzie Dwiandika had informed the Minister about purposes of the meeting, Mr. Milan Compel informed the Indonesian delegation about SIOK establishment, its goals and program. As well as Mr. Ivan Paska informed about the activity orientation of OSIVO Zvolen Comp. and its interest in cooperation with Indonesia. The special point of discussion was the matter of Minister`s active academic, scientific a publication activity and his proposal to organize „Business forum“ aimed at opinion exchange of scientists, educationists and businessmen in all spheres of agriculture, including biotechnology. Slovak delegation appreciated this proposal and Mr. Compel promised to the Minister that this meeting he would organize and would inform him personally. Moreover the Minister`s offer to import some agricultural stocks (only for SIOK members – “the list of raw stocks we don’t publish due to the business confidence”) not grown in Slovakia was highly appreciated. SIOK will elaborate this field of activity and Mr. Compel will inform Mr. Achmad Mangga Barani about the business possibilities with those products.

In conclusion we can say that in spite of time tightness for preparation, organization and course of meeting it was very fruitful for the Slovak side and has brought new ideas into SIOK´s activities and planning.

We would like to express once more our special thanks to Mr. Firdauzie Dwiandika for his effort in preparing of the meeting which despite of many changes was successfully realized.
